Does Windows Update detect and apply patches properly with NT? We still have 2 NT servers which are running SP6a. I know I also applied the Security Rollup Package that has the post-6a hotfixes. However, I'm not sure if I ran Windows Update between the service pack and srp although I know I've run it thereafter. Basically, the issue is that I ran the Microsoft Baseline Analyzer and it detected something like 15 patches were missing. I just looked at the SRP page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299444 and it looks like it was last updated on 5/11/04. Is MS continuing to add hotfixes to the SRP? Do you have to apply the hotfixes separately? Will Windows Update take care of this? Thanks for the insight.

WinUP site for NT still works. Baseline analyzer looks for patches for other MS products probably not many of which will be at WinUP site. There is only one SRP and it was never 'updated' that I know of, so since then and now, there are a gob o' hofixes to apply. You can apply hotfixes together if done in order and use qchain.exe before you reboot. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296861 WinUP will attempt to install all the critical security updates at once if you want to try it, but no guarantee that it will have a good outcome as qchain is not in that loop. It is also probably not needed at WinUP site, but I can't swear to that.
