wondering if you can help PLEASE :) we have a computer that has windows NT installed on it, and we have the Network product called Novell Netware, we have Version 4.83 for windowsNT and i have installed that on the PC, BUT heres the good bit, the thing dont work, i have tried installing it again and again to see if it does, but it just does not reconise our prefered server, but it does reconise one of the servers.

our main server is on Bindary mode, and has netware 3.12 on it, where at the one it can see is in NDS mode, and has version 5 of sumthing like that.

i have installed the client in IPX mode, and IP mode, and also installed it in NDS and Bindary mode, BUT still no look.

Does anyone have any GOOD suggestions as we really really need the help

I think you have answered your own question. The server that it doesn't see is running the old Netware 3.12 which is bindery. The Novell Client software you have installed into Windows is the client for NDS hence it seeing that as the preferred server. I would suggest that the old Novell 3.12 is upgraded to NDS if the server hardware is upto it.

Even the newer Novell client allows you to set a preferred server in its property sheet. Did you look there and fill the requirements out? This isn't something you just guess about and expect it to work. 3.12 is ipx based. So you have to have ipx installed on the client. If you have a NW5 server then you have NDS. You should be logging into the Netware 5 server and it in turn should be attaching you the the 3.12 server. If you are still using "preferred server" your Novell network is misconfigured. At this point I would say you client isn't the problem but your server configuration.
