I am trying to update a new printer for one of my user profiles. I have it set up as a mandatory profilr (ntuser.man), I thought the process would be simply to change the profile in the server to a .dat file, add the printer logged on as the user on a workstation, log off in order that the new setting would be copied to the ntuser.dat, revert the ntuser.dat to ntuser.man. It is not working. When I log on to the workstation, the new printer is not there!! What step am I missing? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Remove all policy restrictions using policy editor. Logon as %username% of profile you want to change.(leave profile as .man) Make any changes(ie add the printer).Logoff and logon as administrator. Go to My Computer/properties. select user profiles and locate the profile of %username%. Copy it to the share where you keep the profiles on the server. Reapply the policy restrictions. Logon as %username% and the printer will be there.
Note. I no longer set up the printers this way. I use Kix32.exe and call it to run as part of the logon script. This means you can add/delete printers without having to tamper with the profile.
