Comment:
I am a newbie so excuse the ignorance. I would like to run NT logon scripts and have not the first idea of how to start using NT. Could do these for Novell but dont know anything about NT scripts. Want to map drives and printers automatically. Would also appreciate if anybody knew of a a good book I could purchase on this subject
To run Logon scripts you need to create a script in the netlogon directory on the NT server. You will then need to start user manager and select the account you wish to run the script. Click the profile button and enter the name of the script in the "Logon script Name" box. If you have placed the script in a subdirectory, enter the full path FROM the netlogon dir (ie scripts\logon.bat) That should do the trick, but if I've forgotten or missed anything, email me. As for a good book I use Mastering Windows NT4 Server by Mark Minasi. Some people don't like his style of writing, but it's proven invaluable to me. Have a look at amazon.com (or amazon.co.uk) for a list of books that users have reviewed. Good luck, Rich.
