NT log in nightmare

Comment:
I bought a refurbished Compaq Armada 7400 Laptop at a Southern Calif computer fair (these are ongoing every weekend) in Sept. It worked fine. It has Windows 2000 Professional NT (?) installed but I can see it had Win95 on it before... anyway, whenever it started up I'd get that popup log in screen which has USER NAME: ADMINISTRATOR and then asked for PASSWORD:
But I never needed the password. I always just hit enter and it bypassed that and started windows. I didn't use the computer for two months. But it was plugged in... with a new battery... and now it won't work. I hit enter and it keeps asking me for the blasted password. Help! I need to get files on there for this Monday!! Needless to say I don't have the original install disks for anything on this laptop and it's not connected to a network. Thanks for any help you all can give!
