ok,
I know this might sound strange, but i just want to do the for experimetal purposes even if the whole system will take ages to do something.
I have a 486Pc 33Mhz and 12Mb Ram. I would like to install a windows NT server it can handle. The role of this server would be to act as a domain server (other computers authenticate on the server)
only 1 pc will be connected to the server to log on as this is only experimental as i mentioned before

Not possible. Windows NT Server running as a Domain Controller requires 13MB of Ram just for the OS. The Sam requires another 6MB. 32MB is the lowest recommended RAM for NT Server as a DC.
There is some debate as to what exactly is the "Minimum" for all specs, but regardless, not taking into consideration HDD space and processor speed, your RAM is insufficient.

I believe you need 64MB memory if you want to install Service Pack 6A etc.
The lowest PC I have run NT4 WS on was a 486DX66 and the results were not impressive even with 64MB Memory.
Alternatively either an MSDOS or Linux solution?

BTW a 486 probably will only recognize a 500MB hard drive without drive overlay software.
If live in the UK email me if you want some old bits, just cover postage please.
