What tool/utility should I use on an NT 4.0 machine to run a disk scan and defragmentation?

There isn't one included in 4.0

You can use third party software like Diskeeper lite or Norton's Diskeeper.

(Diskkeeper lite has a shareware version
on their website).

Go to zdnet. You can search and find a "freeware" defrag for NT. Look for "O&O 2000 Defrag Freeware Version." It runs in the MMC.

...Matt Løvås??..
I'm using Diskeeper lite...works great!!Fast, informative, easy..AND..online defragging....even though some functions have been disabled..DK Lite is freeware....cannot be scheduled and must run at highest priority and cannot perform pagefile\directory\boot up defrag.
(Executive Software should pay me for this!..)
;-)
