I have a compaq SB Deskpro machine with Windows NT 4.0 installed in it. This machine has been running continuously for a long time and then I shut it down and restarted it. Now it gets stuck at the "DMI Pool Data" screen and the cursor does not move ahead nothing happens. Please help.

Have you tried booting it in VGA mode or last known hardware configureation. Something may have changed in your configuration. See if you can boot it in VGA mode and check your eventlog.

DMI Pool Data happens way before the selection to VGA mode and the Hardware profile Selection. If the computer does not goes beyond that, it means there is no operating system present. Boot your computer from floppy disk and see if there are files such as boot.ini or ntdetect.com on your boot drive.

1. Check your boot sequence in bios, boot your system using Nt boot disk or CD.
2. Overwite or repair your operating system using i386 or ERD.
3. Remove the hard disk and check it, on other pc because I think its a problem of hardware your motherboard, harddisk or CPU (Rare Case) may be bad.
