We have some old Cobol stuff that runs off of dos without a hitch. Only problem is we haven't been able to get it to run under NT. To get it running under Win 98 we add the following to the autoexc.bat file, if these lines arent their we get a "Cobol runtime library not installed" error message. I add the following to the autoexec.nt file and the environment variables but the cobol stuff never works, it gives the runtime library not installed error which means the folling wasn't included in the autoexec.bat file. But it runs fine under win 9X. Any ideas?

PATH=J:\COBRUN;%PATH%
SET CobDIR=J:\COBOL\LBR;J:\COBOL\EXEDLL;J:\COBRUN
SET LIB=J:\COBOL\LIB;
SET COBHNF=J:\COBOL\ON-LINE;
SET INCLUDE=J:\COBOL\INC;
SET COBDEMO=J:\COBOL\DEMO;
SET TEMP=F:\WINNT\TEMP;
SET TMP=F:\WINNT\TEMP

Thats my autoexec.nt and autoexec.bat file

Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe NT 4.0 completely bypasses any config.sys or autoexec.bat files. You may need to research and see if this library needs to have Registry entry configured for it or if there is a third-party app that will run it.

Thought!

Can you use autoexec.nt or just found this in technet article "useful resource kit utilities for domain administrators"
Regkey.exe
Graphical utility to modify the registry to change settings for the shutdown button on the logon screen, to display the last logged on user, whether to parse the Autoexec.bat file for path and environment variables, to specify the number of profiles cached, to specify the default wallpaper, and whether to generate long file names on the FAT file system.

I was doing a google search and came across your question regarding the cobol runtime library not installed problem. I have the same issue with Windows 2000 on an old DOS based program called Fund Master. I was hoping that you had found a solution. Please email me if you can.
