NT 4.0 doesn't ship with a defrag, you need to buy a 3rd party utility. Search Google for "NTFS Defrag" if you think you need one.

I used to copy all the data from a server drive, format it again, and copy the data back. This was effectively a poor man's defrag.

Windows 2000 includes its own defrag.

Exectuive Software have a multi-OS defrag util.

visit:

http://www.executivesoftware.com/execsoft.asp

and see if the download section freebie/trial version will do what you want... The full version obviously costs a 'few' $$$/£££'s.

Read instructions carefully.

Norton Utils has one for NTWS but I don't think it works on Server - again visit and check on their web-site?

That is correct on Norton...

Norton Utilities and Norton Systemworks 2000 and 2001 will NOT defrag NT Server...but it WILL defrag NT Workstation...
