Does anyone know the procedure to install an internal IDE cd-rw with Windows NT 4.0?
I believe I have the hardware connected properly, but NT is not recognizing the cd-rom drive.
I apppreciate your help.

Hi Tom,
is your HD IDE too? If so, the BIOS-settings should be correct for IDE-devices, but you can still check the CD-Rom settings there. If you have a SCSI-HD, first check your BIOS-setup, wether all settings concerning IDE and CD-Rom are correct, if you have one IDE-HD and one CD-RW, short the master-switch of the CD-RW and connect it to the 2nd IDE-channel. You better take IDE-channel two for the CD-RW, though you could connect it to channel one as slave, too, but it might slow down your HD-performance. NEVER connect or disconnect anything during your machine is running, you would destroy the mainboard! If the HD is SCSI, setup the CD-Rom as master and connect it to IDE-channel one. Possibly you have another CD-Rom or DVD-drive, then check the master/slave configuration (always set one device master and the other one connected to the same channel slave). I hope it helps.
mfg, Carl.
