I acquired a computer with NT 4.0 with SP 4 installed. I used a program to dump the contents of the SAM file to find the user names. After trying some of the names and using another utility to change the passwords of some of them, I still cannot log on because there is only one choice in the domain list. It is a standalone computer now. I've heard deleting the SAM file might help if there are problems logging on. But i cannot get to a command prompt. i've used a dos boot disk with a ntfs driver to access the drive, but i can't delete files with it. Is there any way i can get to a command prompt from within nt?
Sorry if i dont know much, this is my first time using NT.
probably not, i need something that will get rid of the domain that is in the login box, it is no longer on a network. I'll probably just format and install win98 but thanks for the help.
