When I try to install my sportster 33.6 modem, NT will not detect it. If I select HAVE DISK and supply the latest NT4 drivers the next section does not have any COM ports to install to. I have the jumpers set to COM 4 and IRQ 3, and this works fine when I boot WIN 95, please help !

Go to add hardware, ports, and add com 4. You'll probably have to add com 3 first, and nt will probably delete it later (you don't have to worry about that). Then select have disk and go through install as usual.
I have a similar proble with my Compaq Presario 1620. I added WinNT (both server and workstation), but COM2 is not detected by NT. (it works fine on Win95). The Event Log says that NT determined that COM2 was not a serial port. I tried to install the modem using the wizard and all goes well until the screen when I'm asked to choose the port to install to... The only choice available is COM1. I have changes COM2's IRQ's and I/O settings but NT still does not recognize COM2 as a valid serial port. What should I do?
