NT 4 Server - 2 NICs and DSL

Comment:

I have an NT4 Server that provides File& Print services to a small LAN (10 userz). The server has 2 NICs. NIC-A is connected to the LAN and provides TCPIP and Netbeiu based functionality to the LAN, while NIC-B is connected to a DSL Router out to the Internet. NIC-A (the internal LAN) has a seperate internal Class-B type static IP scheme while NIC-B has a fully registered TCP/IP address.

Although the server is able to access the Internet/etc I can't get the clients to access the Internet (via the server). From the clients I can Ping NIC-A (the LAN NIC) but I can't ping NIC-B (the link between the server and the DSL router)

Excuse me for the stupidity, but what am I missing - how do I enable the users to access the Internet (without allowing inbound access from the Internet)?

TIA
DG

Reply:

You require MS Proxy 2.0 or another Proxy which would allow you to "share" the internet connection.

Proxy comes separate and as part of the Backoffice suite, so if you if have the BO suite, your all set.

Otherwise its wingate, sysgate, etc..

good luck
