Using NT4 Servers (SP6) and NT 4 Workstations (SP6). WAN with one PDC and 13 BDCs (one in each remote office). Users on same LAN as the PDC can change their password while at their workstation but users on remote LAN's can not (not even administrators). Users in remote office can however change their password if they log onto their local BDC (it just doesn't work from their workstation). Error message is "Unable to change the password on this account (C00000BE). Please contact your system administrator." It's a single domain and there are no policies in use. The WAN links are ADSL and dial up ISDN. Would be very happy to hear any suggestions.

When a user needs to changes his password the PDC must be available. It's possible that your BDC is completing the logon and issues the p/w change request. The user attempts to change the password but the PDC is not available quickly enough over the dial up connections. I've never let my users anywhere near a BDC to logon so not totally sure about that one but it may be that the workstations are not aware of the PDC for the domain. Make sure that the workstations can ping the PDC by name and that the PDC is added into the domain entry on all your WINS servers.
