i run the installer lie thi("c:\>winnt /b /x")try it can't do any bad thing !
well i guess winnt it's the best windows ever made --->it works ok on my p120 with 128megs better than the goddamn win95-Me !
if still doensn't work i will mail you a copy of my installer !

Presuming the system is NT compliant? Is this a clean install? Are you allowing NT set-up to create the partition (4Gig max fat16/ntfs4) for itself (or at least hoping to) or are you giong it about another way (preconfiguring the drive via DOS/Fdisk)?
Whereabouts in the setup sequence does this error arrive?
Many problems in copying/installing files during setup 'can' be due to less than ideal RAM... '95 was a little fussy about RAM quality, '98 more so, NT4 even more so, and W2K positively paranoid...
If you have 2 x 64Meg sticks try each one in turn to see if you can get NT in that way. If one stick allows you OK, then afterwards try adding the other stick and see if it still boots OK. Or better still replace the defective (less than NT quality) stick. If only a single 128 stick can you get a loan of another good quality stick to try?
Another option (and it 'may' allow you in) is to create a small C: fat16 (actived Primary) partition - around 200-250Meg; make it bootable to DOS (sys C: command); copy the i386 there and run setup from C: drive. (You will need DOS'9x bootdisk with CDROM support for this copying.) You install to the Extended partition and allow NT to create its own logical-drive (again 4Gig fat16/ntfs) limit under setup).
C:\winnt.exe /b/x /s:c:\i386\winnt
is the command to use.
/b = floppyless install;
/x = make no setup floppies;
/s: = location of winnt.exe;
in this case /s: = c:\i386\winntYou could even install a basic NT (as fat16) to the C: partition (active Primary); then use its Disk Admin to establish the Extended partition, and subdivide it into at least two logical-drives, the first for NT system files (the boot-partition in M$ speak) and the second for data. If you went this latter route, ensure C: is nearer 250Meg... This latter approach to installing NT (initially to C: ) allows the NT boot-partition (in the Extended space) to be either the 4Gig max as fat16, or larger if ntfs...
The setup command in all cases would be as above - just point NT to wherever you want it to go; and you boot up with a DOS/'9x bootdisk to the c: prompt to run the command. It does mean that (ideally) the c: partition has to be bootable to DOS (sys c: command); but you can also run it by booting with a DOS/'9x floppy and then running the command from the prompt. Personally I'd make it (c: ) bootable to DOS.
Incidentally is this a Dell system originally; its specs. suggest it a little? If it is (a Dimension?) then it should be NT compliant.

Check you ram, and your jumper settings.. I had the same problem. I found out that my ram var hurt because of hi voltage
Good luck

I am having the same problem now,(with 2000)I am trying to boot and it tells me that the
NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or corrupt, so if I try to do a repair with the CD-ROM, it gives me the error:NTKRNLMP.EXE ERROR 4 COULD NOT BE LOADED MESSEGE!?!?!??!
What is going on, this machine is 20Gig HDD and old AT MB though andADMk6 300, with 192 MEGS of Ram, I may try removing some RAM, one of them is a different type.
Suggestions please.
Thanks.
Ruben
