OK, I think you're only hope may lie in whether or not you replaced permissions on all subdirectorys, and also if you can get network access to the PC...

I often use a handy little tool called psexec (from www.sysinternals.com) which allows me to execute commands remote. With this you can use the IPC$ share (hopefully unaffected by your changes) to run the CACLS command and reset the permissions. If you get hold of this file, try this:

Log onto a remote PC with a username which would have admin access on the affected PC.
Then run:
psexec \\ cacls c:\ /E /R BUILTIN\Administrators
(all one line)

If there is only a local admin account, you can use psexec's username+password switches to provide these details also.

Once done, you can log in as admin and re-add full access for administrators (It'll be able to use access rights of the Everyone group until you do).

Hope this helps

Ok, so this messageboard filters out some of my characters :(

after the \\ in the psexec line, you need the computername of your affected PC.

Dear all ,
After Login if you are able to see the Task Manager by hitting Ctrl+ Alt+Delete
then go to File and click New Task and type
explorer.exe. This will start the Desktop.
We has the same problem in many M/C's in our network. For this we cleaned the M/C's since it was affected by Funlove virus. Kindly download the Fix and run it .

Regards,
N.krishnakumar

Doesn't always work I'm afraid... I've encountered this problem before where if you run explorer that way, it just bombs out. Cacls seems to work remotely but when run through task manager and pointed at c:\ it just returns an access denied.
