NIC cards for NT?

Is there a NIC card that works well with NT? I have tried two PCI nic cards and they both are giving me errors when the computer starts that a device didn't respond. They have the correct drivers loaded on the computer which came with the hardware. Is there anywhere I can set the IRQ's in NT like the device manager of Windows 9X???

Stay away from the 3 com and go with the compaq. You will have fewer problems.

I've used Realtek cards on '95, '98, and NT with NO problems... They're often sold under other names as well... They're 'inexpensive(cheap...) and reliable. Netgear (have used them too) and D-Link are equally good to use. Avoid Linksys - they're not usually NE2000 compliant, an industry standard. Cards that are compliant will gladly advertise the fact (Realtek, Netgear, D-link are). Intel are usually good cards - but more $$$'s/£££'s - although usually slightly less so than 3Com...

All the major brands of NIC cards should work ok...I have used lots of 3Com, Intel,a few Netgear and some other off brands...had only one problem with a cheap card...don;t remember name...on a Dell Server...turned out to be a mechanical problem on the Dell... If you have a major brand NIC and the correct drivers correctly installed...look elswhere...to check the IRQ's...start-programs-administrative tools-NT diagnostics-resources...Good Luck

I use 3com cards for PC's and high end Compaq cards for NT servers. No problems using them in many years.
