I have 128 Mb ram, win ME computer. I bought a network card "EtherFast 10/100 Lan card" that says it works with windows ME.
After I plugged in the card, and turned on the computer. I recived the "locating new hardware screen" and it asked me to put the floppy disk inside, each time the computer tries to install the software from the floppy disk it freezes. I tried to download the software from the interent but it froze. Nothing wrong with the card cos it worked on win98. Anyone have a soultion.
"note: if it helps" the computer already has a modem in it

Sometimes in this fabulous world of computing we end users must accept certain blunt decisions. You say you have tried the latest drivers for this LAN card and it still freezes. Well, it's time to exchange it for a different one since incompatibility issues like this will not go away easily. You'll save yourself a lot of time and effort by just pleading with your retailer to exchange it for you - otherwise its a case of changing the slots, trying every single combination of motherboard / windows settings - it's not worth it!

The problem is Millennium, they use different drivers and the support for those drivers is dreadfull as is the OS.
Maybe you can change it for a 3com or email me the name an type number of the card and I will see what I can do for you.
Can't promise anything but I will gladly give it a shot

This is a point I cannot drive home enough.. Do not buy cheap network cards! There is a reason 3Com cards cost $85 and Linksys cards cost $20. I'm sure many of you have used cheap cards with no problems, but I can tell you I have had nothing but problems with people who buy the cheapest card they can. In my home network I use nothing but 3Com 3C905-TX cards, and have never had a network card related problem. A no-name company will generally not keep up on it's drivers as well as an established company will.
