Comment:

My admin restricted installing any software that tries to write to registry. Two days ago our information office changed all windows 98 pc's with nt pc's. In my previous pc I had useful softwares, and my Webshot wallpaper software. Now I can't install them since my admin locked the Nt registry. Is there any way of installing my softwares without harming my computer or the network? , or should I absolutely find a way to log in as administrator?

Thanks in advance.

Neither. If your company owns the software, ask your admins to come and install it for you.

Machine security, and to ensure the machines aren't modified is one of the primary reasons for going to NT. Sounds like they've done a good job.

Don't forget that machines running illegal software are a threat to companies network. From insecurities to lawsuits, the damage can destroy a company. Give them a call, and ask them to help you out.
