msmsn.exe causing 100% cpu usage

Original Message

Subject: msmsn.exe causing 100% cpu usage
OS: WinNT
CPU/Ram: P3 733/512MB
Comment:
Whenever I restart the server, it is constantly at 100% CPU usage. I "end tasked" msmsn and the CPU usage returns to normal. Any idea what application this is? I did a search on the internet, but came up with nothing for this file name.

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a hijack, trying to disguise itself as messenger.

M$, Norton and McAfee show no references at all.

Google search only comes up with foreign sites with code references to add user and contacts, and "send file". Other postings on the same site refer to SQLdump (not a good sign).

I recommend deleting the file, if something goes severely wrong, you can always restore from the "recyle bin".

i renamed the messenger folder in program folders to messengeroff (anything will do)
fixed worked a treat,
