to go to config setting in win 98 you type msconfig in start menu
in 2000 what do you type?
as i wana get rid of some startup tray programs in win 2000

Windows 2000 doesn't come with the msconfig utility. You can however use the Windows 98 version. Copy the msconfig.exe file from the c:\windows\system folder on your 98 PC and copy it to the c:\winnt\system32 folder on your Windows 2000 PC. Then type msconfig from a run command. You will get several errors saying it cannot find certain files but just okay these and it will open.

Another simpler way is to download a freeware utility like the one on the link below: -
