I'm trying to import a txt file into MS Access 97 on NT4, sp6a. I go to file, external data, import, this brings up the load/save window where I can select a file. I cannot select a txt file becuase the file type field only has access and odbc databases listed (no text file, fox pro or even Excel file type available).
I have tried to add these components in from the Data Access area in setup, but they are greyed out saying that they are already installed. I cannot de-select them to re-install them. I have had a look on the MS website and tried installing from the Valupack (same problem) and installing an additional conversion pack (no difference). I've even removed the whole of office 97 pro, rebooted and installed a fresh, the same problem occurs (grrrrrr!)
This happens with any database I have tried so far.

Hi,
You'll never believe this, but man am I glad I read about your problem. I've been experiencing the same problem as you have, I've been searching the net for all kinds of help, and here I am, same place I was before.
My question to you: is you problem solved? And if so, could u please please tell me what the solution is? Thanks, I really don't know what to do. Tony.
