How can you move your pagefile.sys off say the C: drive and onto a different drive say D: ? Is this something to be done on setup ?
My MCSE manual informs me "Microsoft recommends the paging file not be on the same physical disk as the operating system files".
Are they being to cautious or is this wise ?
If so how do you do it ?Regards
Capt CHAOS

Go to control panel - system
Choose TAB Performance
Change virtual memory (click Change buttonFor perdformance reasons it is better to put pagefile on other fysical hardisk than the Winnt-files disk
Why ??
Operating you computer ( operation system ) demands lots of file-reading in Winnt directory
The use of the pagefile will also demand a lot of reading and writing to the pagefile space.
If they are both on the same fysical disk they have to wait for eachother cause the arms of the harddisk can only be in one spot at the time
If the pagefile is on a differnt harddisk this whole operation can go on simultaneousnote: the pagefile will grow between the two sizes you choose when you allocate the diskspace.
If there is enough space on your disk choose top and bottom almost equal , growing of pagefile costs some cpu performance ( not that much but why shouldn't you go for the best)

How does one move the Pagefile.sys from C:\ to another drive and be able to delete the Pagefile.sys from C:\?

All of a sudden my pagefile.sys file is 542.113,792 long and is using all the available space in my drive c. What should I do? If I were to move it to drive D would it work oK? Thank you
