This one has me baffled. This IBM machine was working perfectly, then it was stored in my bedroom for about three months, now it's back in use. I have just connected it to Broadband Internet through a proxy server on a Windows 98 PC. I put in a sound card and installed Mozilla irefox. However after a few minutes the mouse stopped dead. Everything else still worked, so I was able to use the keyboard to shut down and restart. I tried two other mice with the same result. I took out the sound card in case there was an IRQ conflict, but the mouse stopped again as before, about three minutes after starting the system. I unistalled Firefox but it still made no difference. This system has never done silly things like this before. Where should I start? Could it even be the connection to the proxy server that causes the conflict?
