Mouse Errors (unexp. reset, etc)

Comment:
On NT 4 SP 4, a friend of mine is getting the following event log errors:
Could not set the mouse sample rate.
An unexpected reset was detected from the mouse device..... see event log.
What may be causing these, and how may we resolve them?

What type of mouse fitted, i.e. serial(com1) or PS/2? If it's a named mouse e.g. Logitech have the correct drivers been installed or is he using generic Windows drivers? Or possibly the driver in use was for a more sophisticated mouse than the one currently fitted?
