I have a WinNT machine and Iam have trouble getting the internal modem to work (it was fitted original MDP3858-P)This machine came from my work and is no longer on a network. Would it be helpful if If i loaded win98 on this machine, maybe it might help the machine recognise the modem?

NT4 is not "plug'n'pray" therefore you need to manually install the modem, which entails finding the correct drivers.
W98 may find the modem but you would still need the drivers....
