missing sharing tab

The user of one of the NT workstations on my domain is unable to share files/folders - there is no sharing tab in 'properties'. If I log on (administrator) the NW on his machine, the tab appears.

That means that the permissions on that folder do not allow the user to share it, only the administrator has been given that right. Check both the security and sharing permissions.
