This is not an uncommon occurance.
Are you doing a fresh install?
Or are you upgrading to NT from an existing OS?Have you tried using a DOS boot diskette? Soemtimes you can boot to the A:> prompt, then switch to the C:> and find that your files are still there.
Waiting for more information from you...

thanku Dr.Zhivago, i tried DOS boot diskette and my system is booting properly now. My boot sector moved to F drive from C drive bcoz of some partitioning or formatting (iam not sure)i tried earlier.

compaq laptop win NT.
started fdisk and format and forgot to make boot disk but have win98 boot disk tried this but no responce. i am trying to install win98 instead of nt. all i am getting now when i switch on is compaq logo and then blank screen with cursor at top of screen but will not respond to keyboard however when i press fn/ctrl/esc i get a white box in corner with limited info on bios i am not sure if a dos boot disk or a nt boot disk will solve this problem and where i can obtain the boot disks from.
i am pulling my hair out ! can any one please help me solve this problem.
i was told it could be missing boot strap but iam clueless as to what this means and where to obtain one !...

my buddylist has not been showing up on my screan and when i click instant massager the hour glass goes on and then a message comes up and i would like you to fix this please and make my buddy list work
