The Sybex MCSE series are pretty good.

Also, Mark Minasi has co-authored 'Mastering Windows NT Server 4', which is excellent; albeit probably much more in it than is needed for the core exam. There is also a similar book by Mark for NT Workstation.

Mark is considered by many to be one of the leading NT exponents...

Will Willis has co-authored a book on Network + which is also worth considering; if only for the info it contains that is useful for Net Essentials etc.

If you visit: http://www.insideis.com there are a couple of chapters there for download/preview; and also a brief intro to the book. Comments from 'members' on the:

http://www.mcpmag.com

forum, are also very positive about this book... Will was a long time member at mcpmag.com, before starting up this 'insideis.com' site with colleagues; this site more Pro oriented/disciplined etc. than the mcpmag had become in recent times...

I have several of the Sybex series for MCSE (core subjects plus 2 electives...) - still slugging my way through...

Sybex also do a series of Exam primers/study guides which are very condensed (they assume/require some decent knowledge/study as they are really just revision books.......

Then of course there is the Exam Cram series... (which do need to be checked for errata).

Similarly the O'Reilly 'In A Nutshell' series, and these can be checked for corrections/errata on the O'Reilly web-site... There are several books in this series.

HTH,

Good luck with whole project...

There is nothing like hands on experience. Practice using the control panel applets and become familia with the menu options. Easy marks to be had simply by knowing such things as
how to regenerate a stripe set
or how to install a scsi tape drive.
or what options are available to be set when setting up CSNW etc

Hey good luck! I took NT workstation Sunday, which is similar and I'm taking NT server this weekend. I studied the entire Sibex books for both classes but (though they were very helpful)I found that the best preperation I had done was to take a transcender test repeatedly and then I went back and read the explanations provided for each question. The practise test was much harder that the actual test and many of the same questions showed up. If you email me at blumhardta@communitech.com I'd be happy to zip you a copy of the program!!

Best of Luck To You.
I also am going for my MCSE. I have found the Cram series to be excellent as well as the Transcenders.
Here are some of the better sites:
www.brainbuzz.com
www.testfree.com
www.mcsedirectory.com
www.measureup.com
I know there must be hundreds more. Also check the "rampage" or "braindumps" pages.
You can find them by going to any of the above sites.
Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.
"Good Luck"

Microsoft has a very good self test book. Its set up like the questions on the test, but on the next page gives you the answers and reasoning behind. I cant think of the name, but its blue and white.

Recommend studying up on disk management (know what a stripe set, volume, etc) also study up on NT-VDM's and how they work.

NT Server exam is around 40% same as Workstaion, so if you understand W/s, you'll be right with Server
