Hi,
i would like to know what is the maximum number of user accounts supported in winnt 4.0 server. i am having 5,000 user accounts in my pdc & i would like to know how many bdc should i need to install in my network to support the users.

The largest number I believe anyone has tried is 40,000 for one domain. How many BDC's you want depends on many things...how much data is flying around your network, etc. Check out the Windows NT Server Resource Kit. LOTS of information in there.

I'd also recommend, if at all possible, that you upgrade to at least 2000 server.
