We have around 50 client nt machines logging on to an NT 4 Server. Every now and then a user gets an error messaged when they try to log in stating that NO DOMAIN CONTROLLER WAS FOUND AND THAT YOU WILL BE LOGGED ON WITH CACHED INFORMATION. Once the use logs on with cached info. as soon as he or she logs off and back on again, the logon script runs and everything works fine. It's getting a little irritating for the employees to log off after they logon. Could someone Please advise. Thanks, Any ideas really appreciated.

The client could not find the server on the network the first time. This could be a lot of things, from network traffic to overtaxed server?
Try changing the port on the hub that the server is plugged into. Are there any really old or slow clients on the LAN? Upgrade them.

The above reply is correct, but there could be other issues involved when that error is generated.

This problem probably occurs on rushhours like 9 am when everybody wants to log on
Try to ping -t the server on that time , or do it in general and see what happens.
It's just a small indicator
Maybe time for a BDC
