I work for a school system and have set up logon scripts on all of our servers (one for each school). However, I am trying to get a logon script working on one of our servers and have run into a bit of a snag. For some reason, unlike the rest of our servers this one will not work. Here's what I've done:
1. Created script.bat.
2. Put script.bat in C:\WINNT\system32\Repl\Import\Scripts
3. Set up user "bob" to run script.bat in the user profile section. Now, when Bob goes to log on the script doesn't run. Using this exact same setup on other servers (same OS) Bob has no trouble running the script. To simplify the testing process I changed the script file to do nothing more than print a message and pause but still nothing.
I also made sure that the logon script location as set in the server replication portion was pointing to the correct directory. On the offhand chance there was a problem with the repl\etc directory I created a new one and put the script in there and changed the logon script location to the new directory. Still nothing.
I'm sure there is something simple missing, but I have no clue what it is. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matthew Zimmer

Okay, I found a quasi-solution but don't know why it works. At each school we have a fileserver and an exchange server. The fileserver is the primary domain controller at each school. I've been putting my scripts on the fileserver. However, at the school that was having issues I had to put the script on the exchange server for users to run the logon script.
I checked the replication setup and it seems to be identical to all the other schools so I have NO idea why this particular solution appears to work. If anybody has any other ideas to try I'm up for it.
Thanks,
Matthew Zimmer
