Hello,
I just added a group with "full control" access to one of the administrative share "staffshare" on my machine. Prior to that, I was not able to save files (for some reason - permission denied!!). Anyway, after I added the group, i rebooted the machine. Now I am able to logon, bu I get desktop is not on (pop-up menu appears with "desktop" title and messages "Can'e access this folder" "path too long" )
I think I am able to login, but somehoe lost permissions to read/write on my own machine. Any suggestion on how to fix this probelm?
Thanks,

Satya

Fixed this problem.
Got another hard drive. Made it master. Made the corrupted drive a slave drive. Installed the OS on the master. THEN access the old drive. First thing I did was copied the files and BACKED THEM UP. Thank goodness. The data is retrieved.
Still sharing the old drive is problem across the network. Not sure why.
The cause is unknown, though. Probably a virus that changed access rights even to the administrator.
