Comment: I have a PC that can log into ABC Workgroup, and i want that same PC to be able to log into the DEF Domain (not nessacary at the same time tho). I have the right gear for it ( a Black Box ABC Dual Switch ), but i cant set up the computer so when the login screen comes up, I can choose between the workgroup or domain. The workgroup is running on static IP addresses, and the domain is on DHCP. Please Help??

Reply: (edit)Okay supose you are connected to the domain and you want to switch to the workgroup you have to change the network logon ( rightmouse on networkneighborhood and selct to logon to domain or workgroup ) then you need to reboot etc etc. To go back to the domain you have to add the computer account to the domain again and have to be a domain admin to have the permissions, reboot and logon to the domain. This is a drag. Why not logon to the domain and stay logged on, I don't know what you need to do on the workgroup but you can almost do anything if you give the proper rights to the devices or shares you want to access. If you tell me what you want to do I can make a better and easier solution Email me direct at rcschut@chello.nl if you like

Reply: (edit)I log onto a domain at work with my laptop. When I get home, I want to share files with a desktop in the workgroup on my home LAN. I'd like to do this without having my sysadmin at work rebuild my domain account. i.e. switching is a drag. Obviously, my home network is never going to be part of the domain at my company...
