Hey, I am locked out of my NT based computer at the password screen. I have not changed my password, but for some reason am unable to get the computer to acknowledge my long-standing password. I have even gone as far as to take the CMOS battery out for 10 minutes hoping to dump the password information. Unfortunately this did not work. The computer was networked in my house until 2 weeks ago. At that point, I replaced the computer and took it off of the network. I have been logging on as Workstation Only and it has worked just fine until tonight.

bios has nothing to do with the OS password.
Look on the web for the linux password changer or go to sysinternals.com for a similar utility.
If you can gain access to the file system rename the sam file to bak and relaunch NT. This should blank out the admin password.

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html (were you member of domain previously - this situation common when people leave a domain & only have domain user id - doesn't work locally).

Get a copy of CD ERD Commander 2000. It will allow you to boot to it and change your password.
