I read earlier of people having problems with a locked Admin account - while this sounds impossible it is very possible! This is just some helpful advice/insight to those that ever experience this on a server that they have "inherited" (like myself). The admin account can be locked out with a utility called "Passprop". Passprop.exe is a utility available in the NT Resource Kit. This command line utility has four available switches. This utility expands on the capabilities of User Manager and passfilt.dll. Passprop /simple – Restores simple passwords (NT default) Passprop /complex—Forces passwords to have a mixture of upper and lower-case, symbols or numbers. Passprop /adminlockout—Allows the Administrator account to be locked out except for interactive sessions at a Domain Controller. Passprop /noadminlockout—Restores NT default when Administrator account can't be locked out. Passfilt.dll forces much more complex password requirements than usually enabled under NT4.0. I believe under 2000 this DLL is not required as group plicy has this ability built in. Hope this solves the mystery (I'll send you my address for the wine and chocolates) :-) Jimbo
