Hi experts,
i am having weird problem when i want to install a printer locally. All the installation went normal but when i want to print/testing print, nothing comes out.Sometime an error msg saying printing operation time period expired pop out or the printer just print out 1 line of weird character or just a dot. I tried to print under DOS using dir>lpt1,all the drivers are printed out so is not the LPT1 port problem. No problem if i print using nework printer. The printer is working fine in other computer.
i tried reinstall the printer driver, reinstall service pack but the problem still persist. Can any1 tell me what else do i need to check? thanks

Here is a Driver For NT 4.0 as well as some instructions. Genax try removing the printer and restart the server and try re-installing the printer. Also are you logged on as administrator or a end user? Well hopefully this will help with your situation. Here is some more tips I found on this forum for installing local printers hopefully this will help as well:

Use this to install a Local Printer.

1. Open the Printers folder (Start-Settings- Printers)
2. Double-click the "Add Printer" icon
3. When told to begin installing the printer click Next, Do So
4. You are asked if you wish to install a Local or a Network Printer. For this FAQ, choose, Local Printer
5. Next, you need to enter the manufacturer and model number. If you cannot find it, or you have a disk that came with your printer, choose the "Have Disk" option and browse till you find it.
6. You will now be asked to select a port. Standard is LPT1, but COM2 can also be used. There are other options, but these are very rarely used.
7. You are asked to give the printer a name and whether it will be your default printer.
8. Then, you are asked whether to print a test page. It is suggested that you do.
9. Windows will now copy the files that it needs.
