Hi,

I am going to rearrange my lan setup from having all live IP addresses to a network with a Proxy Server (running Server 4.0 withsp6) as the only live IP acting as a firewall and the rest of the workstations as internal IPs. One hub has the proxy server and DC and a couple of workstations, the other hub has the rest of the workstations. So a couple of questions:
Do I need to NICs or can I just put 2 addresses on 1 card?
What should be my default gateway?
Do I need 1 network segment or 2 because there are 2 hubs?
Sorry I know it's a lot, but if someone can get me started or point me to a site with a good explanation of the process it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You need 1 NIC per workstation and 2 NICs in your proxy server/firewall.

>>>What should be my default gateway?

The default gateway for your workstations will be the internal private NIC IP for your proxy server/firewall.

>>>Do I need 1 network segment or 2 because there are 2 hubs?

The number of hubs is irrelevant. Hubs are just extension cords for your network.

What sort of connection do you have? DSL? T1? That will make a difference on the setup of the proxy server/firewall.
