With reference to the above, I am getting the following message on a Compaq Server running Windows NT4 (SP6) and Exchange 5.5 (SP4)

"STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0x809E4429, 0x0000001, 0X013C8C2D)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

There isn't any mention of a driver file causing the problem in the 3rd line of the BSOD - 'cause there isn't a 3rd line!

I have tried the "Last Known Good" and the restoring all options via the "Emergency Repair Disk" as well as VGA mode boot-up etc but to no avail!

I have also trawled through various Technet articles and other sites and various possibile solutions have been offered, mostly to remove drivers or install Service Packs etc!!!

I also tried booting with a NT4 bootdisk which advised a corrupt or missing "NTOSKRNL.EXE" As the system partition is FAT, I was able to copy a new version of
this file onto the server, but the bootdisk complained of the same thing after rebooting! Virus checks, Diagnostic checks are all clean!!

Can anyone give a detailed breakdown of this STOP code which would point to the exact problem!!??

Would re-installing NT Server either ontop of the existing structure, or to an alternate location be a valid step!

I would appreciate any constructive suggestions for repairing this server as it is an important issue!!

Cheers!

Kevin I have the just about the same message as you have.
STOP: 0x0000001e (0x00000005,0xed3c4dc7,0x00000000,0x00000004) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

I have not been able to find anything on this that has fixed it. Have tried every thing that I have been able to find. Sounds like the same things that you have done. This was a new win 2000 install on a new system. I finally reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled win 2000. Just a note. The first install went fine untill I install my virus checker which I did last and that is when I got the error message. When I reformatted I installed the virus checker as my first software install. Everything when fine untill I installed the last of my software. At that point I started getting the stop message again. I have reformatted 3 times and the same thing happens with the last software instlled each time. I have installed the software that caused me problems each time at the begaining on the next install and it does not matter. What ever I install last gives me the message. But if I install the same software sooner it works just fine with no messages. If you have found out anything more on this would you please let me know. My e-mail is pam@truckt.com
