Hello, I am planning to start a server to run Microsoft Exchange Chat Service 5.5 which needs NT 4 server to function properly. It will lack some features under other Server systems, so my question is basically if NT 4 server is reliable regarding performance, security and stability? We still have the option to run windows 2003 server but pererably we need NT 4 server since it provides more stability for the software we need to run on it. Can someone give me some insights on this?

NT4 with service pack 6 and all the subsequent patches is pretty solid tbh. My PDC (bless it's little cotton socks) had been running for almost 12 months straight (no reboots, nothing) until I finally rebooted it last weekend (It came back up too)

Not sure I'd want to put an NT 4.0 box out on the internet, I'd want to put a firewall in the way 1st, but reliability wise it'll be fine. Security would be my concern (unless it's not going to be net facing, in which case you'll probably be fine)
