i m using DHCP server and WINS server on Windows NT .all the client get the IP from Dhacp server but sometimes it shows ip conflict on client machine.there is no static IP given on client machine.is there any configuration on dhcp server.
tahnks

Open DHCP Manager (you can use HELP and type in DHCP, if you don't know how else to find it) and check to see how your scope is defined. You can have BOTH dynamic and static IP address assignments if you define both a scope and an exclusion range. The other issue is that if you HAVEN'T correctly defined an exclusion range and, let's say, a network printer occupies a LAN node, that printer was quite likely configured to use a static address from the NIC end of the network, even though you may wish it were using a dynamic address. In that case, if another client uses the IP address assigned to the printer before the printer comes up in the stack, you'd have a conflict, wouldn't you?
If none of this makes any sense to you, check this link:

i have configured exclusion range also.it is not conflicting with fixed IP. i checked everything is fine but the problem is DHCP server could not properly leased to the clients.i released the ip manually and renew it again.when the clint machine boots up it should give new IP,that should not happening properly.

An excellent tool for resolving problems with leases is NETDOM, one of the utilities that comes with the NT Server 4.0 Resource Kit for IT Professionals Supplement 4.
You log in on a client machine, but not onto the domain, just onto localmachine. Then you can execute all your administrative commands from the command line on that machine once you have the Resource Kit installed. Obviously, very handy if your server ever hangs up in a more serious way than with your current scenario.

This set of utilities saved me hours of agony on more than one occassion.
