Comment:

I have a win 2003 server which i have given a fixed IP address and reserved it on the SBS 4.5 server in our office. When I log on, the server 2003 knows its ip address is 10.0.0.6. I can ping from any other machine using 10.0.0.6 but when I try to ping it by name from any other machine, it tries to ping 10.0.0.238. i can't see this entry in the DHCP manager.

If anyone has any information that will help to resolve this issue, it would be appreciate.d

Thank you
Dean.

Look in the WINS database, sort by IP address and look at both .6 and .238 and delete and incorrect entries.
