I/O error reading disk

upon boot, i get the message:

I/O error reading disk
Please insert another disk

can anyone help me resolve this problem?

Make sure floppy is empty.
Be sure CMOS boots proper drive letter.
Start reinstall, insert ERD to repair MBR.
or use bootable flopy with -ntldr-ntdetect-boot.ini-
Edit boot.ini to point to system files.
