Dear all,
Please help me how to install a local printer on Windows NT4 as It gave me a problem indicated that RPC server is unavailalbe when I used "Add printer" to install a local printer only, no next work connection. What did I do wrong, did I disable something?Thank you in advance
Mike

I assume you are on the parallel port (LPT1), and that when it asked for the driver, you supplied it or picked it off the NT drivers list.
You then rebooted after this installation...
The RPC is an indication that it is looking on the network for the printer, not locally. Also, look to see that the 'Spooler' service is running in Services.
Do you get an Event Viewer error too? What is it?

Dear RR,
Thanks for answering my question. I could not install the printer driver really, as every time I selected "add printer" with printer driver floppy disk in a: without printer connection I got the same problem-No installation occured, andit tell me that RPC server unavailable. I did not see any error in Event Viewer, I cleared them all. Will do as you suggest with the printer connection and note if any error iin Event Viewer. Thanks
Mike

Dear RR,
Yes, it's working now after I turned on the 'Spooler' service. The Event Viewer error says: SQLserver Profiler Internal error, with the description:"[Microsoft][ODBC][SQL] server driver][name pipes] specified SQL server not found" which another thing that I could not get my SQL runing, the version(SQL7.0) I installed was MSDE for home user practice. Thanks for your help
Mike
