My hard drive crashed and I now have a new one. The techie who delivered the drive started NT installing and left. At the end of the supposed installation, I rebooted as instructed, and all it will come up with is "invalid boot disk" and tells me to put in a boot disk. I have done so. Same error message. I have tried reinstalling, but it won't recognize the CDs or the disks. How do I get past this message???

Why not phone the Techie up and tell him to get back to yours and fix it.?
I haven't had this expereience with NT before, at least not the way you describe it.
The onis is on the Techie, surely
How many Cylinders has your HDD got?
NT is for 1024 or less, you can get around this problem but it involves going into BIOS and reconfiguring your HDD settings and/or setting up your partitions correctly I.E: use a 2GB partition only

Did the Tech make the partitions as NTFS, put in ms-dos disk 1 and reboot. Do not install DOS, press F3 and enter the FDISK utility. Determine the partition type from the show partition information menu. If HPFS is shown then you need NTFS DOS (very expensive and slow to boot). If you see FAT32 then you have to renistall for sure. If you see FAT then you may not have to reinstall, find the boot.ini file and change each occurance of partition(1) to partition(2) and reboot. You have better than 50% chance of fixing the problem. If it doesn't then go into the bios and change the boot order so the CD is chosen before the A and the C drives, put in the NT CD and reboot and reinstall.

Also while in Fdisk make sure that there the boot partition is set to active
