Well I don't know how to solve your present problem but I do know how to avoid it happening again. Throw away that 98 boot disk for one. The NT setup disks contain a disk formatting utility and I have run into several problems when trying to use fdisk, always use the NT disks to format. Also, you need at least service pack 3 for NT to regognize a drive larger than 8GB, so you may have created a incompatable partition (also, the NT boot partition cannot exceed 4GB!). When you loaded NT you should have then used Disk Administrator to make any further changes to your drive. Partitioning commonly causes drive problems but if you use Disk Administrator you can use the Last Known Good Config utility in the NT start-up to undo any mistakes. Good Luck!

adding drive letters changes the location of the partition. modify boot.ini and change the values partition (0) partition(1) etc.
until you find your OS. I agree with the above. throw away the win98 disk. win98 fdisk, format, sys.com etc. I use plain jane dos. then within NT diskAdmin. convert to NTFS or make partitions. Again adding drive letters will require you to change boot.ini
