Hello, I had just finished replacing a cdrom in a machine in our lab and fired it back up. It came up fine and the cdrom (identical to the bad one) happily read a cd.
Then I noticed both the cdrom and the removable hard drive dock were crooked and I could not get the case on. I shutdown the machine, adjusted the drives and started it back up.
Now I get a blue screen and an Stop and inaccessible_boot_device error message. Then it displays a number exes and dlls preceded by a string of letters/numbers (hexidecimal?) then several rows of those items ending with nt0skrnl.exe

Sorry, I forgot to give the rest of the info. It is a Compaq Deskpro running NT with service pack 6, 256 mb of ram. The hard drive is mounted in a inClose mobile dock and carrier. No other hard drives are used on the machine.

Sounds like you bent a pin somewhere on a cable connector for that hard drive dock.
I can't envision exactly what you're talking about without a manufacturer's name, but, if it's removable, it uses some sort of coupling to communicate with the system board.
These pins can be quite tiny and delicate. Make sure you use a specialized tool, like a micro needlenose pliers. And that you have enough light to see what you're doing. If you break off the bent pin, you are %*$!@+ with a capital %.
