Hi !
I partitioned my 20 GB Maxtor IDE Hard Disk for 2GB DOS (Primary-FAT 16), 16GB Extended wherein 6GB for Win 98 (Extended-FAT32) and 10GB for NT (Extended-Unformatted). The remaining 2GB is a Primary unformatted partition. I have already installed DOS and Win98. When I tried to install NT Server 4.0, I get the blue screen and a message - "Inaccessible_Boot_Device. My installation files are in the DOS partition (FAT16). I have done this before on the same PC but I don't know if this has something to do with Hardware conflict or partitioning. Should NT be installed on a Primary Partition ? Or should it be the first partition in the extended aprtition ? Please help.
Thanks.

Hi Dear,
U cann't install NT over win98 because win98 uses VFAT & NT doesn't support this file system.
If u want , u can do one thing -
- Create partition as u want but primary pritition should be FAT.
- Install Win98 in One partition & NT in Other Partition. If ur problem is solved , pls reply to me.

I have originally a Compaq NT 4.0 (service pack 4) machine. The 4 GB HDD is partitioned into 3 : c: is a DOS one, D: and E: are 1.3 GB each of NTFS with NT 4.0 of Chinese and English version respectively. Everything is smooth but after I have installed a 1.5 GB HDD and tried to merged it with the D: Drive. Blue screen with the inaccessible_boot_device occurs. English boot and dos boot are allright. Can you help ? Thank for your help ! (64 MB RAM of Pentium II 300)
