I'm running NT Server 4 SP6, and IIS 4. I've installed and uninstalled Options Pack 4 a couple of time, trying to get my settings back to the way they used to be. I guess I screwed up something.

Now, when I install IIS, I can't get anonymous access working. I have the Anonymous Access checkbox checked in the Directory Security tab for the default Website. The anonymous account is the default user account created during the IIS install: IUSR_SERVERNAME

When I try to browse to:
//SERVER_NAME or
//SERVER_IP or
http://(DNS for Server)

I get the following error:

HTTP Error 401.3 Unauthorized due to ACL on resource

This is a fresh install of IIS, and I haven't made any tweaks to the configuration. What is it I'm missing? It worked for me before!

Please help!

I had this problem before. Its usually beacuse there are conficts in the groups & directories it creates. The fastest way to fix it is to:

1) uninstall IIS
2) delete the directories it created, all of them.
3) remove the users/groups it created
4) fresh install
